Epic MegaGrant Celebrates multiCAM BACKDROP’s Innovation

Epic Games, the renowned developer behind the real-time platform Unreal Engine, has been proactively fostering innovation since 2020 through a staggering $100 million grant fund.

This initiative aims to empower projects deemed impactful within their target sector and community. In line with this mission, the French XR broadcasting solution, multiCAM BACKDROP, was honored with a generous $75,000 grant in 2022.

This financial boost was specifically directed towards finalizing their prototype for a scheduled market launch by the end of the same year. Notably, this marked the second accolade for the pioneering solution, following its distinguished recognition as the Jury Prize winner at the esteemed SATIS awards in November 2022.

Further cementing its user-friendly appeal, the platform’s intuitive interface enables operators to configure an XR setup in less than an hour, eliminating the need for specialized Unreal Engine knowledge. During live sessions, operators benefit from simplified controls, facilitating seamless interactions with virtual elements, whether operating in XR or AR mode.

The development of BACKDROP began in 2019, through the partnership between multiCAM Systems, a company that designs innovative live capture solutions, and DreamCorp, a studio specializing in the creation and development of immersive experiences in VR, AR, and XR.
